Live updates: Slough Town vs Ebbsfleet United

The referee blows his whistle on a fine home performance by the Rebels! 

96' GOAL!!!! With Cousins out of his net, the Rebels break from the Ebbsfleet corner and the ball is played to Goddard. He keeps his cool to roll home the Rebels second of the game and the bench chase him down the touchline to celebrate! 2-0 

95' Another corner for Ebbsfleet. Cousins comes up for it. 

94' George Moncur volleys just wide of the mark for Ebbsfleet. Must have got a nick on it as it's a corner. Slough manage to hack clear and very nearly break through Brian Nelson. 1-0 

92' Decent chance for Fleet. Fielding sends in a cross from the right that Seaman heads well over. 1-0 

90' Seven minutes of stoppage time. 

88' Clarke has been excellent today. My man of the match. 

86' Less than five to play now but there will be a  bit of stoppage time as well. 1-0

83' Crossbar! So close to a second for Slough. Goddard lays the ball back for Roth who steps inside his man before sending a thunderous strike onto the crossbar.  There's more excitement a minute later as Goddard almost gets in but Fleet deal with the danger. 1-0 

80' Charlie Seaman blasts a free kick just over the bar for Ebbsfleet. Decent position but failed to test Adam Desbois. 1-0 

75' Johnny Goddard and Brian Nelson come on for Myers and Adepoju.

73' Greenidge makes a couple of crucial interceptions, first with a block and then with a tackle. Slough need a bit more going forward as it's all Fleet right now. 1-0 

71' I've liked Tyrique Clarke's performance for the Rebels today. He's intercepted so many balls and has linked play well. 1-0

66' Jordan Greenidge has just come on for Ruben Bartlett-Antwi and he's almost as big as his brother! 1-0 

65' The Rebels appear to be settling into a more defensive shape and system for the final half hour, or Ebbsfleet are simply stepping up their play. They can't hold onto the ball for any real length of time and it keeps coming back at them. 1-0 

61' The Rebels' goal scorer Tarik Gidaree is forced off with an injury to be replaced by Peter Ojemem

The hosts break downfield and Myers forces Cousins into a decent save at his near post, but it's one you'd expect him to make. 1-0 

57' Former Maidenhead United striker Josh Coley has just come on as part of a triple substitution from Ebbsfleet.

 

54' Gidaree is almost in for his second, sending a low shot skidding wide of the mark, although it appears it was deflected. Good build up play from Myers to create the opportunity. 1-0 

52' Dan Roth sends a dangerous low ball from the right fizzing across the face of the Fleet six yard box. That was begging for someone to touch it home. 1-0 

47' Josh Adepoju has impressed for the Rebels this afternoon. Have the Rebels unearthed another gem in the mould of David Ogbonna. 

At the other end, Cosgrave very nearly gets in behind and blasts wide under pressure from Greenidge. 1-0 

Back underway at Arbour Park. Slough looking to defend their first half lead, or perhaps even add to it. 1-0

Half ends with a free kick from Lennon Peake that Desbois saves relatively comfortably. 

Overall, a decent effort from the Rebels who deserve their half time advantage. Gidaree headed them in front early on and they've had a couple of chances since then to add to it. 

Fleet began slowly but are working their way back into the game without creating loads of clear cut chances. 

45' Great skill from Jared Myers to let the ball run on behind him as he gives his marker the slip. He runs onto it but his shot from the edge of the box is blocked behind for a corner. That's cleared by Fleet although there were strong appeals for a penalty from Slough as one of their players looked to be dragged down. 1-0 

45' Half chance for Fleet from a free kick off the left. But Cosgrave's header drifts well wide. 1-0 

41' Yellow for Oshilaja after he jumps on the back of Cosgrave and brings him down. It's now a corner to the Fleet after Davies blasted the ball off his own player. The hosts just need to settle a bit here because they've generally done well this half. 1-0 

37' Adam Desbois has sat down and taken his gloves off. Looks like he'll be replaced. A big blow for the Rebels. 1-0 

Or maybe he just needed a change of boots. Was slightly worried their after his previous long term injury. 

Looked like a planned move to give the Rebels a breather and get some information to the players from the bench. 

33' Slough's press has generally been very good this half. They've not allowed Ebbsfleet to settle at all. 1-0 

28' Corner to Fleet after Desbois holds onto the ball for more than eight seconds. He also receives a yellow card. 1-0 

Slough clear the initial danger but it's bounced back in and Samuel volleys well over the bar on the stretch. 

That new rule is one keepers are going to have to get to grips with. 

26' Fleet have a spell of possession on the edge of Slough's box and the ball eventually is played back for Gene Kennedy who leans back and sends the ball over the bar. 1-0

24' That should really have been two for the Rebels. Kiki Oshilaja follows in the free kick all the way from the left and has a free header six yards out, but his connection is poor and the ball bounces up and over the bar. They should be going in. 1-0 

19' Ebbsfleet have settled into the contest and are passing the ball around quite nicely but to little effect so far. 1-0 

12' First opening for the Fleet. The ball drops for Dom Samuel on the edge of the area and he tries to lift the ball back over Adam Desbois, but he doesn't get enough on the attempt and the Slough keeper claims comfortably. 1-0 

10' Ruben Bartlett Antwi shows off his skillset to win the Rebels a corner. It falls kindly for Ochieng on the edge of the box but he blazes over the bar. 1-0 

6' After falling behind in the early stages of last week's match at home to Hemel, Davies will be delighted to see his side hit the front today. 1-0 

4' Goal for Slough! That didn't take long. They'd already caused a few problems and forced a corner. But the ball was whipped in from the left by Tyrique Clarke and it's flicked home with his head by Tarik Gidaree. Mark Cousins had no chance. 1-0 

2' First observations, the Rebels new number 6 - Reiss Greenidge - is an absolute man mountain. A huge presence. 0-0 

Slough win an early corner which 

1' Ebbsfleet kick the game underway at Arbour Park. Rebels attacking the Academy end in the first half. 0-0 

The players are out at Arbour Park. Scott Davies is in the starting line up for the club's second home game. Fleet in red shirts and white shorts, the Rebels in amber and navy as usual. Big game this for both sides for different reasons. 

The Rebels are ready to go at Arbour Park. 10 minutes until kick-off. 

There will also be a minute's applause before kick off for Slough's match day secretary Mark Hunter who passed away unexpectedly last Saturday. He was one of a kind according to Davies and will be sadly missed by everyone at the club. 

The Express spoke with player manager Scott Davies in mid-week following the side's defeat to Dorking and he's called for the fans to show a little patience in their new look side. He doesn't think they've been terrible by any stretch, but they're yet to click it seems.

It's bottom against top this afternoon as Slough Town take on Ebbsfleet United in their fourth match in the National League South.

The Rebels find themselves at the bottom of the table after failing to build on their encouraging opening day goalless draw at Tonbridge Angels.

Following that  they lost out by the only goal of the game to Hemel Hempstead Town last Saturday before going to Dorking Wanderers in midweek and losing 2-0.

Player manager Scott Davies has called for patience as he looks to bed in this new group of players and get the best from them. 

Ebbsfleet in contrast have begun the season with three straight wins against Dagenham & Rebridge, Chippenham Town and Chelmsford. They became the whipping boys of the National League last season finishing bottom of the pile, but they've hit th ground running on their return to step 2
