Maidenhead United have been forced to postpone tomorrow evening’s (Tuesday) home game with Ebbsfleet United due to a frozen pitch.

The Magpies were due to meet Fleet – relegated alongside them last season – for the first time this campaign, but the club has said there’s no realistic prospect of the pitch thawing out in time with the current cold spell set to continue.

The club held a pitch inspection this morning (Monday) and felt an early postponement was in the best interests of both clubs and their supporters.

Details of the rearranged fixture will be announced in due course.

A club statement said: “Regrettably, due to the frost on the pitch and bearing in mind the forecast over the next 36 hours, the match officials and both clubs agree that an early postponement of this fixture is sensible given that there is little or no prospect of an improvement in conditions.

“That inspection took place at 10:15am this morning, with a PGMOL official liaising with tomorrow's match official.

“A rearranged date will be announced in due course.

“Tickets will be valid for the rearranged fixture, should you require a refund please contact commercial@maidenheadunitedfc.org.”

United are 10th in the table following Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Horsham, a point and a place behind Ebbsfleet who have a game in hand on them.

Slough Town’s scheduled trip to Chelmsford City this evening (Monday) has also been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
