Desborough's Women earn Banerette after beating CWIBA

Desborough’s Ladies earned themselves a Banerette after winning an enthralling game of bowls against County Womens Indoor Bowling Association (CWIBA). The Women’s team won the game 83-73.

Desborough also played Banister Park in the third round of the Egham Trophy, winning 84-44. The game included a powerful performance from the away rink, skipped by Dave Simpson and the home rink, skipped by Mark Essex.

They now play county rivals Whiteknights in the next round.

In the first round of the London & Southern Counties Challenge Shield, Desborough played county rivals West Berks and some strong performances helped them to a comfortable 89-40 win.

The rinks skipped by Mark Peachey, Dave Simpson and Kevin Scrace all won relatively comfortably and Desborough go through to the next round to face Loddon Vale.

On the friendly front, Desborough welcomed the Bucks VP’s to Green Lane for a five-rink friendly and claimed another easy victory.

However, Captain of the Day for Desborough, Tony Buckley, decided that in the season of goodwill an honourable draw would be declared.

Top rink was Alan Jones, Peter Colton, Jacinta Monteiro and Mervyn Gibbs who won 29 – 11.
