A 'suspicious item' found at a Tesco store in Slough was a bag of clothes, Thames Valley Police has confirmed.
This evening, a 100-metre cordon was implemented at the Tesco store at Brunel Way after a 'suspicious item' was located in the store.
In a post on Facebook, TVP Slough said: "Officers are currently on scene at an incident in Tesco, Brunel Way, Slough.
"A suspicious item has been located in the store and a 100m cordon has been put in place as a precaution while this is being investigated.
"We would ask the public to avoid the area while this is being dealt with.
"We will provide an update when we can."
However, the force later provided an update, stating that the cordon has now been lifted and the item discovered was a bag of clothes.
The update added: "The cordons were in place as a precaution while we ascertained what this was — public safety is our top priority.
"We are aware of the disruption this has caused, and we are grateful to everyone for their patience and understanding while this was being investigated."
