Following a triumphant win for Best Musical Revival at this year’s Olivier Awards, Fiddler on the Roof is coming to Wycombe Swan for one week only in what is set to be the theatre event of 2025.
Considered one of the greatest musicals of all time with one of the finest scores ever written, this classic musical of joy, revolution and community is an exuberant celebration of love and life.
This will be the first UK tour of this classic musical in over 12 years, offering audiences around the UK a rare opportunity to see this musical masterpiece in an acclaimed new production.
It’s 1905 in the tiny village of Anatevka, where Tevye, a Jewish milkman, lives his life by their proud traditions.
For his five daughters, that means a visit from the matchmaker.
As each daughter challenges his beliefs, against the backdrop of a changing world, can Tevye hold on to his roots, or must he bend to the will of his children and learn to embrace the unfamiliar?
The celebrated revival, featuring a cast of exceptional performers, has captivated audiences and critics alike during its West End run – featuring ‘If I Were A Rich Man’, ‘Tradition’, ‘Matchmaker’ and ‘Sunrise, Sunset’.
Completely sold out at the Barbican in London, this is a rare opportunity to catch this critically acclaimed production direct from the West End.
Tour producers said: “We’re thrilled to be taking this landmark production of Fiddler on the Roof on tour across the UK and Ireland direct from London’s Barbican Theatre.
“Following the success at this year’s Olivier Awards, it’s a privilege to share this powerful and timeless story with a wider audience.
“Our remarkable cast can't wait to bring this beloved classic musical, with all its heart, humour and humanity, to theatres around the country and in Dublin too.”
The theatrical triumph and winner of three Olivier Awards is from the powerhouse creative team of director Jordan Fein (Oklahoma, Young Vic), choreographer Julia Cheng (Cabaret) and designer Tom Scutt (Tony Award winner for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for Cabaret).
Leading the cast in this spectacular production, direct from its current summer season at the Barbican Theatre, is Matthew Woodyatt as Tevye, Jodie Jacobs as Golde and Olivier Award nominee Beverley Klein as Yente.
Co-stars are Natasha Jules Bernard as Tzeitel, Georgia Bruce as Hodel, Hannah Bristow as Chava, Ashleigh Schuman as Shprintze and Georgia Dixon as Bielke.
