Harry Clark with students launching the school's Big Lent Walk for CAFOD.
Harry Clark – broadcaster, author and celebrated winner of the BBC hit series Traitors – revisited his roots in Slough this week with an inspiring mission for local young people.
He gave words of encouragement to students at St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School as they take on a charity challenge for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD).
CAFOD’s Big Lent Walk involves participants walking 200km across 40 days to help provide safe water for communities around the world.
Now in its fifth year, it started during lockdown as a ‘walk for water’ to remember the millions of people who walk miles every day just to get clean water to drink.
As such, Big Lent Walk 2026 represents a collective stride towards combating the global water crisis affecting millions of people.
More than 1,000 supporters are taking part this year, as well as hundreds of schools across the country.
During his visit on Wednesday (February 25), Harry shared personal stories and insights from overcoming challenges in his life.
This included six years in the British Army, the experience of filming Traitors, and his new BBC ONE documentary, From Slough to the Vatican.
He shared with the pupils how his faith – and his mother – helped shape him.
Harry said: “I’m very proud to be here for CAFOD… I never realised how much walking and running could help strengthen your faith.
“I’ve definitely found it helps my thoughts and my understanding of what my faith is about.”
St Bernard’s headteacher Paul Kassapian said: “Students have been learning about how climate change is affecting communities around the world.
“It’s wonderful that they are now taking action and doing their bit to help tackle this global issue.”
