Long-standing Claires Court principal moves into ambassadorial position

The long-standing principal of Claires Court has taken on a new ‘ambassadorial’ role as the school transitions its ownership to a charity.

This charity, LTC Education Group (LTCEG) has taken over the Maidenhead school while the Wilding brothers step back from the ownership side to secure Claires Court’s future.

When the announcement was made of this change last month, it was the plan that James Wilding would remain as the academic principal for the foreseeable future.

Now, as part of the next stage of the transition, it has been announced that Mr Wilding is assuming a new, broader role.

He is becoming the principal emeritus – an ‘ambassadorial’ and ‘externally focused’ role.

Attributing Mr Wilding this role is intended to ‘recognise his exceptional contribution to the development of Claires Court over many years,’ said LTCEG.

In his new position, Mr Wilding will support initiatives to further strengthen the school’s educational offer, facilities and partnerships.

He will ‘play a key role’ in building relationships across the wider community and supporting projects that enhance opportunities for pupils.

Alongside this change, Steve Richards has been promoted to principal with immediate effect.

He will take on full operational leadership and day-to-day management of Claires Court reporting to Christine Cunniffe, executive principal.

Mr Richards has ‘extensive experience at Claires Court’ and a ‘deep understanding of the school community’, LTCEG said.

Meanwhile, Claires Court will continue to operate with the same staff, curriculum and day-to-day school experience for pupils.

These changes come ‘after a positive first few weeks under the new ownership.’

Since joining the LTCEG, Claires Court has begun ‘exploring opportunities’ for collaboration across the wider family of schools.

This includes shared expertise, professional development and long-term investment in facilities and educational provision.

Ms Cunniffe said: “The first few weeks have been extremely positive.

“We have been warmly welcomed by staff and have been impressed by the professionalism, care and commitment that underpin the Claires Court community.”
