Maidenhead United’s 5-1 win over Bath City at Twerton Park was a memorable staging post on the Magpies’ way to lifting the National League South title back in 2017.

On that afternoon, Dave Tarpey struck a hat-trick while Sean Marks and Jordan Cox - who volleyed home the pick of the bunch late on - were also on target in a victory that imbued the Magpies with a confidence to go on and seal promotion as champions.

The reverse fixture in that title winning season was also memorable for Harry Pritchard’s incredible volley in a 2-1 win. Both Pritchard and Sam Barratt are back at York Road this season - however, it’s unlikely either will be fit enough to take on the Romans tomorrow evening (Tuesday)

The Magpies return to Somerset with a very different looking side, but they have their tails up once again after sealing back-to-back league wins over Horsham and Dover Athletic.

United won both of those matches 2-1 but it’s more the manner of those performances that’s been encouraging, and the visitors will hope to continue their recent upward trajectory with another triumph over the Romans.

The two teams have had very similar starts to their respective campaigns, with Bath just ahead of Maidenhead in 12th place having also picked up eight points from six matches.

They’ve recently beaten Salisbury and Eastbourne in back-to-back matches and followed that with a decent away draw at Ebbsfleet United, however, they were beaten 2-1 at home by Dorking Wanderers on Saturday, Ewan Clarke’s goal not enough to claw back Dorking’s two goal lead.

For those planning to travel to Bath, ticket prices for tomorrow’s game are as follows: Family (2 adults & 2 U12s): £32.40; Adult: £16.20; Senior (Over 65): £13.50; Student / U21: £9; Under 16: £4.50; Under 12 (must be accompanied by adult or senior): £2.70.
