The first images have been released of the forthcoming film about the life of Sir Nicholas Winton – featuring the star-studded cast in full character and wardrobe.
One Life, starring Sir Anthony Hopkins as the famous face of the celebrated Maidonian, tells the humanitarian story of Sir Nicholas.
It has been shot in the UK and Czech Republic, where Sir Nicholas performed his great humanitarian work as a young man.
Also starring Johnny Flynn as a young Nicholas Winton, the story is based on the book ‘If It’s Not Impossible…: The Life of Sir Nicholas Winton’ written by his late daughter, Barbara Winton.

It tells the true story of ‘Nicky’ Winton, whose endeavours on the eve of the Second World War saved more than 600 Jewish children from the Nazis. He was spurred into action when he visited the annexed Prague in 1938 and saw the state of the fleeing Jewish refugees.
Fifty years later, in 1988, he was surprised by the survivors on live television and the British public learned the truth about the humble hero hidden in their midst.
Sir Nicholas died in 2015 at the age of 106.
Sir Anthony Hopkins and Johnny Flynn both play the role of Winton at different stages of his extraordinary life.
Also in the cast are Helena Bonham Carter playing Babi Winton, Nicholas Winton’s mother, and Lena Olin as his wife, Grete. Alex Sharp, Romola Garai and Jonathan Pryce play Trevor Chadwick, Doreen Warriner and Martin Blake, who had key roles in organising the Kindertransport trains that brought the children to safety.

The director is James Hawes (Slow Horses), and the screenplay is co-written by Lucinda Coxon (The Danish Girl) and Nick Drake (My Father).
The film is expected to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, set for September 7–17.
