A highly acclaimed chef at a pub in Hurley has said it is ‘tremendous’ that the venue has made Estrella Damm’s Top 50 Gastropubs list for the first time.
The Dew Drop Inn in Honey Lane was taken over by Simon Bonwick and his wife Deborah who reopened it in January and this is the first time the pub has made the prestigious list for 2024.
Simon said: “Firstly, it’s tremendous for the team and the Dew Drop, as it sits in the forest way off the beaten track.
“It’s also fabulous for our style of cooking in The Dew Drop Inn. Which is a classic cuisine of the old religion."
The news follows on from the summer when the The Dew Drop Inn ranked in 95th place in the top 100 restaurants in the UK at the National Restaurant Awards.
A host of other venues in the area which have previously made the Top 50 Gastropubs list, have also been featured again.
This includes The Loch and The Tyne in Old Windsor, The Beehive in White Waltham, and The Coach and The Hand Flowers, which are both in Marlow and owned by celebrity chef Tom Kerridge.
Simon explained that the venues’ positions on the list will be revealed at a ceremony at The Parkers Arms on Monday, January 22.
