LIVE: A-level results day in Maidenhead, Windsor and Slough

Good morning, proud parents, keen family members, and interested members of the public. Today is the day: A-level students will be finding out whether months of toil have paid off as they pick up their results.

We'll be bringing live coverage and photographs from across East Berkshire and South Bucks where pupils will hopefully be jumping for joy after finding out their results.

The students, and staff, have all worked exceptionally hard and this is reflected in the outstanding grades
awarded.

With over 220 students entered, our A Level pass rate was 99%.


32% of our results were graded at A*-A. 65 % of our results were graded at A*-B, and 85% graded A*-C.
The average point score per A level entry was 39 points, making the average grade a B.
Our Vocational Level 3 pass rate for Applied General qualifications was 100%, with Distinction* to Merit
being 90%.


Jeffrey Chan achieved 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. He is excited to embark on a
journey of Medicine at Sheffield University. Louis Palmer achieved exceptional results, and he will also be
studying Medicine at Nottingham.

Luke Churchill has secured a degree apprenticeship in Commercial Real Estate and Hamza Rehman has
been awarded a degree apprenticeship at PWC to study charted accounting.

The exceptional results achieved by our students this year will open doors and opportunities for an
exciting future for many. We are extremely proud of the achievements of students and staff, reflecting the
unrelenting commitment and dedication in our school community.
I hope that our students will take time to recognise and celebrate their success, finding happiness and
fulfilment in whatever the future holds for them.

My thanks to all our teaching and support staff for their
continued dedication and professionalism.

14.20pm: Sir William Borlase Grammar School release grade stats:

Borlase are celebrating an excellent set of A Level, BTEC and EPQ Results this year. Congratulations are due to each and every one of our Year 13 students who received their A Level and BTEC results today. 17% of grades awarded were A*, 53% were A*/A, 82% were A*/B, and 95% A*/C.

Over 90% of students have taken up places at their preferred higher education destinations to study courses including Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, English, Medicine, and International Golf Management representing the diversity of our students interests and abilities! 9 students will take up places at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, 2 students who will be studying overseas in the USA and France, 2 students are taking up employer-based degree apprenticeships, and 4 students going to the prestigious Trinity Laban and Rambert dance conservatoires. 11 students achieved 3 or more A*s in their examined subjects.

130 students completed EPQs conducting research investigations into topics from Medicine to the Witch Trials in the reign of James I, 90% of whom achieved A* or A grades.

A further 10 students achieved a Distinction or Distinction* in their BTEC Technical Theatre qualification, taken alongside their A Levels and supporting the sound, lighting and staging of the many school performances through their studies over the last two years.

No student is defined by their exam grades alone and the contributions made to school life by this cohort of students through their time at Borlase in sport, house activities, running societies, mentoring younger students, and performing in music, dance and drama are testimony to the contributions that they will make to wider society in the future.

Through all this, they have worked incredibly hard for their exams and these grades are a fine reward not only for their effort and determination but also the excellent work by the staff who have taught them and supported them over the last two years.

We wish each student every happiness and continued success for the next exciting stage of their learning and lives.

We are extremely proud of the many successes of our A Level and BTEC students today. It has been wonderful to see so many of our students achieve their grades and be accepted for their first choice of universities, colleges, or apprenticeships.

This year, our History, Criminology and Art & Graphics students have particularly excelled; achieving fantastic results of academic achievement across the board.

Our Mathematics department were also delighted with the grades of our A-Level Mathematicians. Congratulations to Logan Kempthorne-Ley-Edwards, Alfie Poots and Holly Cox for their outstanding academic and personal achievements in their exams.

We are thrilled to share that Logan secured two A*s, Holly received one A*, and Alfie achieved a strong AAB.

We would also like to specially mention and congratulate Megan Turnbull, who received fantastic grades of ABB.

We would like to congratulate all students for their clear, continued dedication and commitment to their studies throughout their time at Cox Green.

Whether they have been with the school for two or seven years, it has been wonderful to see them grow into resilient young adults, ready and confident to take their next steps for the future.

13.22pm: Burnham Grammar release grade stats:

Record Breaking Results at BGS

It was a happy and excited morning at BGS as students celebrated incredible success.

  • Over 40% of all A levels taken resulted in either an A* or A grade
  • Over 70% of all A levels taken resulted in either an A* to B grade
  • 89% of all A levels taken resulted in an A* to C grade
  • Over a quarter of all students achieved 3 or more A* and A grades
  • Highest ever average points score per A level entry
  • All students who received an offer from Oxford or Cambridge gained their place
  • Every one of the 10 students who applied for medicine gained their place

Headteacher , Dr Andy Gillespie, stated:

‘To achieve our best ever A level results again is exceptional and an indication of the hard work and dedication of both our students and staff.  I am particularly proud of the devoted support that staff have offered in all areas of academic life and overall wellbeing and how our students have embraced this care to ensure they not only thrived across the exam season, but leave us equipped to flourish in the academic rigours of elite university life.’

13.20pm: Upton court grammar school talks about A-Level success:

Headteacher Oliver King heaped praise on pupils who had achieved some of the ‘best results in the school’s history’.

Overall, 48 per cent of grades were A* to A and 76 per cent were A* to B.

Other highlights included five pupils now heading to Oxford University - and a further seventeen heading to study medicine or dentistry at other top performing universities.

Mr King said: “These results are a testament to the character and capability of our young people, whom we have prepared to thrive in the next stage of their journey."

13.20pm: St Bernards catholic grammar school talk about result achievments:

A record number of super students secured places at England’s elite universities Oxford and Cambridge on A-level results day.

This year 60 per cent of grades were A* to B, with 40 per cent A* to A.

Pupils excelled in history, further maths, PE and English – where 37 per cent of pupils got an A*

Fifteen pupils scooped straight A* grades or A* grades with one A.

Headteacher Paul Kassapian said: “The accomplishments of this year’s cohort stand as a shining example of what can be achieved through aspiration, hard work, perseverance, and belief.”

Scores of students rushed through the sports hall doors early on A-level results morning, keen to learn the outcome of their hard work. 

The school said some pupils, as a result of their grades, had secured places at universities including King’s College London, the University of York and the University of Southampton.

A spokesperson said: “Congratulations to all our students on their fantastic achievements this year.

“Our wonderful young people achieved the grades they have worked so hard for and that they deserve; they have shown true resilience and determination to succeed.”

12.50pm: Windsor schools sixth form release results:

This year, 51.26% of all A-Level grades were at A*–B and 80.46% at A*–C, with an overall pass rate of 97.27%. Many students have secured places at leading universities, including those in the Russell Group, as well as apprenticeships and employment pathways.

Sean Furness, Headteacher at The Windsor Boys’ School said “As ever, we are extremely proud of all the students whose hard work and commitment to their studies have led to such strong results. Good results never happen by accident, but are a result of dedicated, happy students and extremely passionate and skilled staff. I am delighted that so many of our students will now be in a position to follow their dreams and aspirations, whatever they may be and, as always, we wish them all the success that they deserve.”

Ben Garner, who has been Headteacher at Windsor Girls’ School since April 2025 said “We are incredibly proud of our students. They have shown remarkable determination and ambition, both academically and personally. Today’s results reflect the strength of our shared sixth form provision, the expertise of our staff, and the supportive environment we foster across our two schools.”

Max Kaczmarczyk achieved 3 x A* grades and will study Economics at University of Warwick

Nishi Rathod has secured 3 x A* grades and will study Politics, Philosophy and Economics at The University of Manchester

Daniel Tang achieved 3 x A* grades and will study Medicine and University of Bristol

Matthew Quinn achieved 3 x A* and will study Chemical Engineering at The University of Manchester

As well as receiving A Level results, the Sixth Form also received some outstanding vocational results across the wide range of BTECs and Diplomas on offer. Students who made particularly strong progress in their Sixth Form journey are:

Tilly Medcalf achieved a Distinction* in Business BTEC, B in Geography, B in Sport. She now plans to study Exercise and Sport Sciences at Exeter University. 

Wojciech Plusa achieved 2 x Distinction* and 1 x Distinction

George Spong achieved 2 x Distinction* and 1 x A level grade B

Jack Hollick achieved 3 x Distinction

Jane Davies, Executive Headteacher across both Upper Schools reinforced the Trust’s commitment to a modern sixth form offering by adding “I am delighted with our student’s A level and BTEC results and as we move forwards as one Sixth Form, students will now benefit from a wider Sixth Form experience; more courses to choose from, more extra-curricular clubs to enjoy and more opportunities to make long life friends.”

Desborough College celebrates A Level success

Students and staff at Desborough College located on Shoppenhangers Road and part of the Pioneer Educational Trust are celebrating receiving their A Level results today.

The Academy is pleased to announce a year of excellent results for students. Their determination and hard work has meant many have achieved strong results and will now progress onto their chosen next steps in higher education, jobs or employment.

There have also been some standout individual performances, which include:

  • James Arnold who successfully achieved 3 A*s in Politics, Geography and Business Studies and has secured his place to study Geography at the University of Exeter (subject of attached photo)
  • Moazan Shaikh who successfully achieved 3 As in Chemistry, Maths and Physics and has secured his place to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Nottingham.
  • Shivam Patel who successfully achieved 3 As in Business Studies, Psychology and the Extended Project and a B in Economics and has secured his place to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Warwick.
  • Tennyson Jones who successfully achieved an A* in the Extended Project, As in Biology and Chemistry and a C in Computing and has secured his place to study Biology at the University of Southampton.

12.30pm: Langley Grammar School grade stats:

Congratulations to students at Langley Grammar School who are celebrating another year of excellent A Level results, reflecting their hard work and determination. This year, over 59% of A Level entries were awarded grades A* or A, and more than 85% were awarded grades A*, A, or B. These outstanding results have enabled our students to secure places at leading universities and other highly competitive destinations.

12.10pm: LVS announces A-Level grades

LVS Ascot announces top A-Level grades increase once again

Students at independent day and boarding school, LVS Ascot, where young people are inspired to exceed expectations have done just that, with the Year 13 Class of 2025 celebrating a fantastic set of results.

Their hard work and determination have culminated in outstanding A-Level results with top grade achievement increasing significantly since last year with 19.25% attaining Grades A* or A (up from 17.1% last year) and A*-B grades up from 45% last year to 53.5%.

Harry gained 3 A grades in Philosophy, English and Maths and is now going to UCL to study PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics). He wants to work in politics, particularly in diplomacy and international relations. He describes his time at LVS Ascot as ‘joyous’, especially during his time as Head Boy.

Georgia, our Head Girl, is going to Bath University to study Psychology after achieving A*, A and B in Art, Maths and Psychology.

She enjoyed LVS Ascot’s smaller class sizes, which allowed for more time with teachers and greater individual support. She also appreciated the strong sense of community, with support integrated across the school and a friendly atmosphere.

Principal of LVS Ascot, Christine Cunniffe, said "Once again, our pupils have risen to the challenge in  achieving excellent results where every pupil has exceeded expectations. They are confident, inquisitive and resilient young people with skills beyond the exam tables ready for the future.”

11.45am: Marist School, Ascot share results

The Marist School, Ascot celebrates another sweep of superb A Level results, with 54% of grades marked A*-A against a national average of 28%. 100% of students achieved A*-A grades in Maths, Economics, Classics, Spanish, PE and Art.

Among these results were impressive individual achievements, including: Issy (Head Girl) joined The Marist in Reception. Issy gained A* A*, A* in History, English Literature and Government & Politics and an A* in EPQ and goes on to study English Literature at Edinburgh.

Khushi joined The Marist for VI Form, achieving A*, A*, A* in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and will be studying Pharmacy at Bath.

Mia (Head Girl), who joined The Marist in Year 7 from Staines Prep School, achieved A*,
A*, A in Biology, Chemistry and Spanish and will study Medicine at UCL. With a raft of excellent results, 97% of our students secured their choice of university with destinations including UCL, Bath, Exeter, Loughborough, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Bristol and York.

Principal Mrs Jo Smith comments: ‘We are delighted for the girls and so proud of their achievements. Marist students have
yet again performed exceptionally well with record numbers of A* and A grades; with 100% A*-A across six subjects including Maths and Economics. 'Record breaking' St Joseph’s Catholic High School as students “raise the bar and open doors”

Students at St Joseph’s Catholic High School, part of St Thomas Catholic Academies Trust, have yet again broken records, achieving the highest percentage of top grades the school has ever seen.

An impressive 17% all exams sat secured an A* or A, with records also breaking across the school. BTEC students have secured an average grade of a Distinction across all subjects.

Ciran Stapleton, Headteacher, said: “I am speechless! There are no words to describe this group of students."

“Academically, they have performed brilliantly. Not only have they achieved results that yet again raise the bar and open doors, they are also leaving us as young people that we should all be proud of.

“I am, for example, delighted that a record number of students will be heading off to some of the country’s leading universities to study medicine. These young people want to go on and make a positive difference to the world that awaits them.”

At E-ACT Bourne End Academy, which is part of the E-ACT multi academy trust, 10% of all grades awarded were A* or A.

Top grades were achieved by:

  • Troy Gant with A*A*A*A in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry and has secured his place at Cambridge University to study Natural Sciences.
  • Evey Thorn with A*A*D* in Art, Psychology and Finance and has secured her place at Exeter University to study Law.

Other outstanding results were achieved by:

  • Maddie Pryor with D*D*D in Health/Social Care, Psychology and Dance, securing her place at Fashion Retail Academy to study fashion Business.
  • Toheed Ali with BCC in Economics, Criminology and Finance.
  • Amina Riaz with BBM in Criminology, Finance and Psychology
  • Aeriba Mohammad with BBM in Criminology, Finance and Psychology securing her place at Oxford Brookes University to study Accounting and Finance.
  • Sofia Evans with CCM in Criminology, Finance and Psychology securing her place at Sheffield Hallam University to study Business Management and Finance.

Natalie King, incoming Principal of E-ACT Bourne End Academy, said:

“Sixth form students have demonstrated tremendous hard work, perseverance and tenacity in securing their grades. The skills they have developed will serve them well with their future endeavours and we wish them every success.”

The performance of Year 13 students across E-ACT has improved this year, with gains in both attainment and provisional “value added” scores, which show that students are making better progress against their peers nationally.

This valued added figure shows how much progress A-level students made between the end of Key Stage 4 (GCSEs) and the end of their sixth form studies, compared to similar students in England.’

Tom Campbell, CEO of the E-ACT multi academy trust, said:

Heathfield School in Ascot is delighted to celebrate the achievements of its A-level students, reflecting their hard work, talent and determination, and the vibrant supportive community at the school, which helps every student thrive.

The majority of A-level grades were awarded at A* - B, with more than one third of all grades awarded A* or A, and multiple subjects achieving 100% A* - A grades, including subjects within the disciplines of Maths, Languages and Art - it’s been another great year for Heathfield.

  "The students should be immensely proud of their outcomes today, they have worked with dedication and diligence to achieve the grades they have.  They have been wonderful role models to the younger students in school in the way that they have approached their studies and supported each other.    As they embark on the next stage of their life, I would like to thank them all for the contributions they have made to our school and their communities. 

The students in this cohort have gone on to a wide number of universities, including Oxbridge, to study a wide range of courses across the sciences, humanities and the arts.  This is wonderful to see.  We wish them all the very best and encourage them to keep in touch with us through our alumni association. “

10.06am: First results in from Charters School!

Year 13 student Robert, who is going to the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science at the University of Nottingham, said, “I’ve wanted to be a vet since lockdown. I did lots of volunteering before applying including, 254 hours at Sunninghill Veterinary Centre. I’m so pleased with my results and can’t wait to get started on my degree.”

 

Head of Sixth Form Mrs Hill said, “ Today’s results are not just a set of grades – they are passports to the next stage of our students’ journeys. Whether heading to university, apprenticeships, employment, or a gap year of purposeful exploration, our young people have shown they are ready to seize the opportunities ahead. A-Levels are a stepping stone, not a finish line, and the real success is seeing our students equipped with the skills, confidence, and ambition to shape their own futures. I am immensely proud of the commitment they have shown to their studies and to each other, and their achievements are a testament to their perseverance and dedication. I wish them every success in the exciting journeys that lie ahead.”

Head of Year 13, Mr Metson said, “Well done to the 2025 leavers. I am absolutely delighted with how the students have acquitted themselves over the past two years and so pleased with the fact that they are now making their next exciting steps whether that be University, Apprenticeships or the world of work. We very much look forward to seeing the students again at our Presentation evening in December to celebrate and to hear about the start of their post – Charters adventures!”

9.05am: Now for Furze Platt. Mr Ging, assistant headteacher, is full of praise for the pupils.

9am: First results are starting to trickle in... The first report is coming from Charters School, a secondary school and sixth form with academy status in Sunningdale.

8.45am: Keen reporter Anaka Nair has arrived at Furze Platt school and will be hunting down some students and staff to talk to about their school experiences these past couple of years.

Meanwhile, Jade Kidd is also pounding the pavement at Altwood.

8am: Pupils begin to trickle in as the doors are thrown open at the secondary schools.
